Hello Police?
I'd like to report a terrorist.
He's 7 inches tall, has orange
tiger stripes, and his name is...
This is Sunny, original purrrsident of the Orange Cats Club. He became president mainly
because he thought the club on rpc up and made his typist keep the early list of members,
until an unfortunate hard disk crash ate most of it.
However, DejaNews helped recover it once or twice before DejaNews also was lost. We do have an updated membership lists periodically and are currently taking new members - including a web division.
Many of you who are long time members know that Sunny had to go to thuh Rainbow Bridge on March 3,
2001. This website didn't get updated because the typist and de facto club secretary (who was also
Sunny's human mom) was very upset and couldn't see well enough to update things for a long time.
Please visit Sunny's Memorial Page
to share our remembrances
of him. Feel free to send notes for his scrapbook as well.
You can also see Sunny's pages at this site.
Upon Sunny's departure for the giant fudbowl in the sky, her asked that two of his favorite mentees, to whom he was a SOUK (special orange uncle kitty) take over as co-purrrssidents of the OCC. These two mentee are orange littermates who have been OCC memfurs since their first day at their one true homes - Inga and Merlin, a.k.a. thuh Spice kittens (or cats) who are shown below in their early days of membership.
These wonderful new co-purrrsidents are owned by Amber, mom of our original VP! Part uv Sunny's conditions were that his typist help them by retaining the role of webmeister, so she is. Inga and Merlie's human keeps the historical membership list.
Due to all the work interfering with his naps, back in 1996, Sunny decided he needed a vice president also, and turned to one of the charter members.
Shu (short for Joshua) was an orangy beige cat who originally joined the OCC the first week it was suggested (maybe the first day). Sunny and Shu were look alikes who immediately made friends. Shu graciously agreed to be vice president, and the historical e-mail memfurship list is on his page, which you can go to from here. Shu's OCC Page
His typist was furry busy, so it didn't git updated super fast. Shu was famous in rpc for his ability to have a party at any opportunity. Let there be a cat fight, a game or an adventure, and he would show up dragging umbrellas, chairs and coolers full of Spikeritas and nipwine.
As yoo cats know, our vice prezident Shu had to go to thuh Rainbow Bridge back in 1997. Sunny put together a tribute to him, that I hope all yoo cats will go visit. Sunny missed Shu very much until he left to join him at the Bridge. All the orange kitties know the legendary adventures of Mr. Shu.
Nowadays, more orange kitties have web pages, so we have decided to keep a link list instead uv
an e-mail memfurship list. You kin find a link to sum OCC related sites and memfurs sites later
on this page! Since thuh OCC vice-purrrsident job had sat empty for a long, long time, Sunny sent
a telepathic message to thuh typist to FIND A NOO WON to help the Spicers with
running the club. Obeying orders like a good little human, she dutifully did, and we are happy to
announce that LittleMan, baby orange brother of our much beloved OCC friend Bigman, has agreed to
do this job. Littleman is shown here thinking seriously about this new responsibility (or maybe
thinking about throwing something off the desk, we aren't sure).
By early 1996, many cats were meowing to each other on rec.pets.cats, about all manner of things. Sunny noticed some new orange cats who identified themselves (I believe Mr. Pumpkin and Mrs. Orange Marmalade(RB) ) and thought it would be fun to have a club. So he posted a note asking if any kitty was interested. Response was overwhelming, and a decision was made to let orangy-beige cats in as well. Later, a vote was taken on allowing other color cats with some orange or cinnamon who wanted to celebrate orangeness to join, and since orange cats are so generous, it passed easily. Finally, honorary (non-orange) memfurs were allowed, though with other clubs becoming so popular, they don't seem to be as needed anymore. In April 1996, the Orange Cats Club wanted to do something for all of the rpc cats, so they hosted the first MEOWCAT Party, and the cats have been partying pretty much ever since.
In the ensuing 5 years (wow, 5 years, did we have an anniversary party?) the OCC has ranged far and wide. From the old rpc, to the newer rpcc, and the days of contention preceding it, we have celebrated new members and friends, and cried over losing old friends to the OCC Rainbow Bridge Section. We have served up drinks and chairs and umbrellas for events, and even blown up a few things with some laser cannons (like anti Amfer's house) along the way. Our members have eaten practically everything, and started a spraying orange brothers (SOBs) subsection. Basically, the OCC and its members have lived life, had fun and happiness and also sadness. But the cats prefer to focus on the FUN!!!!
